(Ideas from the chapter “Manage your energy, not your time” of the book “On Managing Yourself”, Harvard Business Review)

When we have good energy, we get more done in less time and the work is of high quality. This leads to greater feelings of accomplishment and joy, leading to lower stress.

The energy needs to be maintained on 4 levels –

  • Physical – Good sleep, low stress, physical exercise, good diet and so on.
  • Emotional – Let go of negativity. Maintain positive emotions
  • Mental – When doing any task, minimize interruptions. Make sure the productive time is well utilized.
  • Spiritual – Live to core values. Include things you enjoy and cherish the most. Reflect upon your higher purpose.
