I recently posted following comments on the article Hi, I’m a Robot and I’m Here To Take Your Job
This topic, as article also noted, is not new and has been around since at least the onset of industrial revolution. The broad trend so far has been that machines replace human jobs but the resulting changes also create several new category of jobs, thus maintaining a pseudo balance.

However we can’t assume that this trend will continue in future, even if we assume that everyone on planet will have the necessary resources to develop skills as needed..
We are in the midst of exponential growth (http://neeraj-quest.blogspot.com/2013/03/are-we-in-midst-of-exponential-…) which while bringing un precedental improvement in quality of life, will also bring new problems and challenges. There is no guarantee that we humans will stay ahead and be able to find solutions to all the problems that come our way.
One indicator worth noticing is that disparity in the world is on the rise (http://neeraj-quest.blogspot.com/2013/05/future-of-disparity-on-face-of….) and with exponential growth, disparity could also rise exponentially. One outcome of that could be that we also see unemployment levels never seen in past.
